My dad has been real busy.  He has been working with my brother James.  Over the last week they have been doing things together a lot.  And going places together a lot.  Last week they were gone four whole days!  I don't know why, but I sense that James is going away again.  I like James - he always has a friendly pat on the head for me.  And when he eats he shares little bits with me too.  Dad has been working on my training some.  But not enough.  So I got in trouble again this morning.

Dad got his breakfast out of the great white GE fortress that is always filled with good stuff.  He put it on a plate and left it on the counter.  Then he started making our doggie-breakfast.  I was so hungry I couldn't hardly wait. Dad took a little bite of his breakfast, then went to feed Daisy and Sammy in their beds.  As dad came back I thought "Oh Boy, now it's my turn.  But it wasn't.  Dad took the dog-food into Uncle Justin and Grandma Quiver's room. Then he went to let them inside, put them in their beds, and fed them.  Well, that took a while.  And I am a hungry puppy.  Hungry puppies shouldn't have to wait so long.

Well - what happened next was not my fault.  But I sure got blamed for it! While I was waiting for dad to give me my food, I went to sniff at his breakfast.  Just a sniff.  But it was too far from the edge of the counter.  So I just kinda turned my head sideways so I could slip in a little closer.  Then dad's breakfast sorta fell into my open mouth.  It fell in so deep it started choking me, so I had to swallow it.  Well - I knew dad would blame me for it, so I ran away - back to my food table.  But when I looked back there was a red streak on the side of the counter from the cherry juice.  Just then dad came in.
Uh-oh.......

Dad grabbed me by the neck and drug me over to the counter.  He put my head on the counter and scolded me really harshly.  Then he drug me into my bed and left me there.  Without my breakfast.  I was hungry so I started howling that it was not my fault and I was hungry.  Dad came back and scolded me some more, then closed the door.  He left me in there a really really long time, like 15 whole minutes.  When he let me out he took me to the counter again.  I wouldn't look at the counter and I didn't look at dad either.  Dad spoke to me a little bit and asked me if I was sorry.  I licked his hand.  So he made me sit, told me to wait, then put my breakfast on my table.  He made me wait almost 30 whole seconds before he said "OK" and I could eat.  All the other dogs were finished long ago.  Then dad put me to bed again.  I had a full belly so I went to sleep.

All afternoon James was packing stuff in boxes and putting the boxes in his jeep.  Yes - I think James is leaving again.  And I am a sad puppy.  I miss Uncle Parker, and now I will miss James too.  I was so sad I went back to sleep.

That night - really late - some more soldiers came by.  I got to meet them. They were not the same ones when James came home.  But mom fixed them all something to eat, and dad sat for a while and they talked about soldier things. But I could sense they were in a hurry.  After eating, they said a few more words, and then they left.  James left too.  He said good-by to mom and dad, and he got in his jeep, and he left.  Good-bye James.... I hope you come back to visit again soon.  I love you.  I went back to my bed and whined myself to sleep.

Oh-boy.. Snuggle time, my favorite.  Dad let me outside before the sun came up. Then he let me in and let me on the bed with him.  I like it when dad lets me snuggle.  After a while dad got up and I followed him.  He made some coffee for mom, then he let the other dogs out and started our doggie-breakfast.  I love the sound of dog food spilling into stainless steel bowls in the morning.  It smells pretty good too.  So dad made the food-bowls ready.  Then mom came in and finished it with hot water and vitamins.  Oh-YUM!  What a good breakfast.  I have noticed that we don't play the "Get the Paper" game any more.  Not sure why.

Later, Mom got a phone call.  She said it was James and he was safely at Fort Hood.  I guess that means he won't be back for a long time now.  Dad started rotating dogs in and out so we all had some time in the yard.  After a while, mom put me inside and she took Daisy out.  I could hear things going on in the yard, and I was curious.  Then dad let me out.  Oh-boy - it's BATH TIME!  My Favorite.  Dad got me wet and then scrubbed me up real nice.  He even cleaned my collar.  When I was all full of soap dad rinsed me off.  Then comes the best part.  Dad tries to dry me off with the towel while I try to pull the towel out of dad's hands.  Dad yells "Stop it". But he laughs too.  I know when dad laughs that he really wants me to keep doing that.  So we play and play.  Uncle Parker said I should make dad laugh.  I am doing it Uncle Parker - dad laughs when we play.  I will dry eventually anyway.  Then dad gave me my lunch, and put me to bed to dry some more.

Later in the afternoon we went shopping.  Oh-boy - Pets-Mart... My FAVORITE!  I walked around and checked out the birds and the rodents.  And there were some crates with some of those cat things in them.  They got really upset when I tried to sniff them.  Sheesh - not like I was gunna eat them or anything.  Such unfriendly creatures.  Mom took a cart and dad loaded up two big bags of dog food.  As we were leaving a nice young girl gave me and Daisy a treat.  I like Pets-Mart a lot.

On the way home mom stopped at another store for a short while.  Dad stayed in the dog-show van and talked with some N5QJK guy named Paul.  Dad likes talking on that radio thing.  We got home, dad and mom unloaded me and daisy into the yard, then dad took the dog food in and mom took the other bags.  After such an exciting day I needed a nap.  So I went to bed.

More soon.
